Staying healthy and active may be easy for us humans, but what about your pet? It is estimated that 52% of the nation’s pet population is overweight or obese. Pet obesity is something owners can prevent, by feeding a quality diet, emphasizing portion control, and staying active. Did you know pets that are overweight risk of Osteoarthritis, Type 2 Diabetes, Heart and Respiratory Disease, Kidney Disease and can have a decreased life expectancy of up to 2 years.


On Saturday, January 31st 2015 we would like to kick start a healthy life style for you and your pet! Join us for our 1st Run With Your Vet 5k Run or Walk. Registration is free and will include a gift bag with pedometer. After Registration, Dr. Hodge will present a “Warm-Up Talk” about pet nutrition, stretching your pet, and how to keep active with your pet. Refreshments will be available during the presentation. This event is sponsored by Purina Pet Foods, Michelle Smith will also be present with a few giveaways and to answer any questions on diets.

Rain or shine. This is a pet-friendly event, all dog must be on 4 foot fixed a leash.

RULES

      • Please be a responsible dog owner.

      • All dogs must be social with other dogs, and current on standard vaccinations. You must be able to produce proof of these on race day upon request.

      • One dog per person, on a leash at all times, no longer than 4' and no retractable/flexi leashes.

      • You are responsible for picking up after your dog.

      • We recommend you exercise your dog before the run.

      • We will not allow female dogs in any stage of heat to attend.

The race director and race veterinarian reserve the right to refuse entry or remove a dog from the course if it might prove hazardous to others or whose physical condition appears to be in jeopardy before or during the event.
